My sleep schedule got thrown out of wack after DJing 2 late night gigs in a row. All I did today was sleep in, pick up my suit from the dry cleaners, take a nap, eat, then prep music, notes & gear for tomorrow’s wedding. Now I’m back in bed ready to go back to sleep. Zzzz…
I didn’t do shit today besides sleep in, lay in bed and watch tv before my gig tonight. Tomorrow I’ll work on inking and a color composition for the new mural I’ll be painting soon. Here’s a tiny sneak peek…
Dang! I never thought I’d do 1,000 of anything. One thousand nights of writing in bed every night. There were a handful of dummy posts, when I just posted a meme or animated gif when I missed a day. A majority of posts are just filler, nothing important, just writing because I had to. The most important posts were the ones where I posted pictures of drawings, or what I worked on that day, or upcoming events. Now that I’ve reached a thousand I might not continue this challenge of posting a new blog post everyday. We’ll see. And to whoever reads this shit… Cheers!
This afternoon I went on 3.65 mile hike, then delivered my blanks to Jimmy at Downtown Screen Printers so they can print me a new batch of San Jose (EMNSJ) shirts. Later, I went to Meeting of the Minds, the collaborative paint party, and painted a fun piece with my fiends Catrina & Eddie. When I got home, and in bed I started sketching out the design for a new mural I’m working on. Tomorrow night I’m DJing & hosting karaoke for a high school graduation party at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk from midnight till 2 AM. Busy, busy, busy…
The SubZero Street Fair is next weekend. Friday & Saturday. It’s an art festival that I’ve been vending at for a few years now. Today I went online to order blanks to print more San Jose tees but they were sold out at all the places I shop at. Luckily, I have 45 blank tees sitting in a box that were originally going to used for my original Eyes, Mouths & Noses design. EMN will have to wait because the San Jo’ tees sell better. I’m waiting to hear back from my screen printers to get the ball rolling and drop off the blanks. I hope I can get them back in time before next Friday.
Holy shit, I haven’t been this exhausted in a long time. After a busy week painting a mural, two DJ gigs & and hours of driving, I spent all day in bed today. I slept in, watched movies & tv, napped, and watched more tv & movies before calling it a night. Tomorrow I’ll get started on the things I wanted to do today.
It’s almost 4 AM and I’m still winding down after my gig tonight. The event itself was nothing spectacular, I’m just excited the week is over. Tomorrow I’m getting a little rest and some me time before jumping into a new mural and DJing more gigs later this week.
I’m back home after spending the day in Elk Grove. I’m all set to DJ tomorrow’s wedding in Monterey. Monday, I get to sleep in before starting work on a new mural design!
I’m still wired after my gig tonight and I just set my alarm to wake me up in three hours. I gotta drive 2 hours to Elk Grove for an early surprise party. Zzzzz…
It took me 4 hours to prep the music and all my notes for two events this weekend. A 50th anniversary party in Woodside on Friday and a wedding in Monterey on Sunday. I had to prep for Sunday’s event tonight because on Saturday I’m going to Elk Grove for my grandma’s surprise birthday party. It’s a busy weekend, and a lot of driving, but I’m ready to crush and have a little fun!
Tonight I finished the 8’x8’ mini-mural for the Any Given Bars’ YouTube show. It’ll serve as a backdrop for their productions. It took me one day to prime the surface and four days to paint. It was a lot more work than I was anticipated but I’m happy the way it turned out.
Wtf? Today flew by so fast. I didn’t do anything besides to go the movies and watched “Everything Everywhere All At Once” (for the third time!) Then, all of a sudden, Sunday was over. I’m still beat from yesterday’s gig and tomorrow I gotta get back to work in the “Any Given Bars Mural.” Sundays oughta be longer. Waaahhh…
A 1.5 hour drive through the Santa Cruz mountains. 3 different location setups. Hot ass day. Ceremony in the sun. Sweated my balls off. 6.5 hour long event. 1 hour drive back home. I’m tired as fuck but can’t sleep.
Tomorrow I’m DJing a wedding so tonight I spent a few hours preparing music, notes and logistics for the equipment. This is normal. I’m in DJ Mode long before the ceremony starts
I painted a lot in 12 hours but didn’t finish. I might go in Friday night or come back in a couple days to knock it out.
The projector I ordered arrived this afternoon. I tested it before going to buy all the paint for the mural. I worked on it for 6 hours doing the tracing and laying down 3 colors. Tomorrow I’m gonna work on it all day and hopefully finish.
I made a couple tweaks to the image. Darkened the walls of the drive-in building (bottom left) and drew in a picture of Kendrick Lamar on the movie screen. It’s a screenshot from his latest music video. These changes were made at the request of the client, my buddy Brandon. Tonight I primed the surface of the wall. Hopefully, tomorrow, the projector I ordered arrives early enough that I can get started transferring the image, and painting.
I colored this little jammy-jam this morning and sent it to my client for approval. Once I get the thumbs up I’ll go buy the paints then work on transferring the image on the wall.
I did a little rearranging and redrew the image, except for the street signs which I’ll create on the desktop. But I think it’s ready to color.
Another day running around. This time to the Capitol Flea market & Berryessa Art and Wine Festival. Then downtown to a small concert organized by my friend. Tomorrow I’ll get back to work…
I spent 4 hours on the road today when I drove my grandma from San Jose to Sacramento then I had to come back right away to watch my friends perform downtown at an open mic talent show. I didn’t get any work done but it was still a good day.
I worked a little while on this project today. I did quick sketches of the street signs and tried to figure out the best way to arrange all the pieces. It still doesn’t feel right so I’m gonna tweak it again before moving on.
Tonight I traced the pictures I took of SAP, Drive-In, Tropicana shopping center and the barn at Emma Prusch Park. The object was to reduce the photos to line art before composing the layout. Next will be coloring and outlining. The final image will be painted on a wall and used as a backdrop for a YouTube show.
