I had a shitty afternoon and was pissed off for most of the day. I didn't do shit besides sit at a McDonalds for an hour and half, eating junk food and sketching, waiting for my car's oil change. I spent the rest of the day on my phone or TV watching YouTube videos. I haven't had a bad day like this in a long time and it fucking sucked.
I unpacked from my weekend trip. Washed the dishes that have been sitting in the sink all week. Bought a couple new tires for my car and scheduled an installation appointment. Read a bunch of notes and documents to get up to date on a new project at work. Hopped on a Zoom meeting to brainstorm ideas for that project then did an evening site visit to take photos and make notes. Sent out the last invoice for custom t-shirt orders. I also made a short list of things to do tomorrow so I don't forget.
I spent a few hours this afternoon in a meeting, getting an overview of the online tools & services I'll need to learn for my new jobby-job. It's a lot of stuff to wrap my head around and get familiar with but I'll figure it out. During the meeting, when I went back to feed the parking meter, I noticed a big crack on one of the tire's sidewalls. I was planning on driving my car to Ukiah for the weekend to together with a bunch of my cousins. For a while I thought I was going to miss it. Luckily my brother it also going so I'm hitching a ride with him tomorrow afternoon. The tire replacement will wait till next week. And in other news... I'm just about done processing all the 1.0 pre-order & custom-order requests that came in yesterday. All the the confirmation emails have gone out and most invoices too. I'll try and wrap that up over the weekend while I'm away. It feels good to be busy again and I'm excited to hang out with my cousins these next few days!
I didn’t really do anything productive today. At night I went for a drive on Mount Hamilton Road past the Lick Observatory. I had never been that far and was tempted to drive all the way to Patterson or Livermore but that would have taken 2 hours to get there and it was already past midnight. Besides, it’d be much better to drive during the day to enjoy the views. The coolest thing I saw tonight was the abandoned car (pictured below) that looks like it might have been burned and a coyote on the side of the road but it was too dark and my camera couldn’t capture it.
This morning I paid off the remaining balance from my car loan from my phone while sitting the toilet with a bidet on it. Technology FTW!
I’ve been changing my car’s oil & rotating the tires myself for a while. A few years ago I made this doc to help make the process a little faster. I print out a copy when it’s time to change the oil and every time I write notes and make edits to help improve the process. Tonight I geeked out a little extra.
That half a house key I pulled out of my tire yesterday wasn't what caused it to go flat. Today I removed the tire, put some air in it, sprayed it with soapy water (where I pulled the key from) but there were no bubbles. I was confused till I looked on the other side and saw the nail head. I videotaped myself pulling it out with pliers. It was a big fucker, as you can see. I had a tire plug kit in my car so I was able to plug it up quick, put the wheel back on, fill all the tires to the recommended tire pressure, then went out for a spin. It was a beautiful Saturday so I drove up the hill and back. Not a smart idea, incase it went flat again, but luckily nothing happened. This afternoon I found that my front driver side tire was flat before going out for a grocery run. I pulled out half a house key with a pair of pliers. Luckily I was able to borrow a car to run to the store. After disinfecting all the groceries and washing my reusable cloth bags I was still in a shitty mood so I went for a long walk to blow off some steam. I walked over 6 miles in a little over 2 hours. I went to Lake Cunningham to walk a lap before heading back home. While I was there I walked past my friend who happened to be riding her bike and recording it on her phone. I saw myself later on her Instagram Story. After getting back home & showering I had a few cocktails and worked on my drawing some more. I'm so damn tired from the walking and staying up late but I am feeling a little bit better than before. A little. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna make it thru sheltering-in-place without losing my shit. Wish me luck.
