No arts, no farts, no aliens, no selfies. I just did chores, stuff on my to-do list, and went to an event where a couple of my friends were live-painting. It was a productive day but not for my art.
Once again, I feel like I've accumulated too much stuff and it's time for another purge. That means tossing, giving away, donating and selling stuff I don't use anymore. Today I started by throwing away some junk. Soon I'll be going though everything in storage. It's fun to purge but it's a lot of work. I want this purge to be very thorough and get rid of a lot of shit.
And in other news, I've scheduled a meeting for tomorrow to discuss a possible new mural! Wish me luck! I'm still checking things off of my to-do list. I spent this afternoon on the phone, half the time on hold, trying to figure out why my health coverage through Covered California got more expensive even though I reported less income than the year before. I was a little frustrated that I didn't get to the bottom of it and wanted to get out of the house for a while so I went for a hike at Alum Rock Park. There was still a little bit of daylight left. I didn't get far before the park closed. Only 1.68 miles but it felt good to be out there again. Afterwards, before hopping in to my car, I swapped my dirty boots for sandals. I kept my toe socks on and it looked awful.
After months of putting off all sorts of stuff, I finally got around to dusting and vacuuming my bedroom and checking all my email. I went from over 150 unread emails to zero. It's rare not having the little red notification on phone so I gotta take a screenshot of my email app when it's zero'd out.
I'd been pretty busy for the last three months with Inktober, the Martin Luther King Library exhibit, 31 Skulls and the Eastridge mural. It feels like everything else has been on hold since October. Today I stared cleaning up stuff I'd been putting off, like taking down my little Halloween skeleton and assortment of skulls. They're going into storage and probably won't come out till spooky season later this year. Tomorrow I plan on dusting, vacuuming, reading emails, deleting emails, and maybe even change the car's oil and rotate my tires. All the the stuff I've been putting off.
After working on the mural 6 days in a row, 7-8 hours a night, I took a much needed day off. I got some rest and checked off some long overdue items from my to-do list. Tomorrow I'm going back to Eastridge and working till Thursday, the day before Xmas eve, to finish the mural. It's the final stretch!
Not much to write about today. Went to work, had a meeting, cleaned and threw out a bunch of junk, went home, took a nap, went out to buy groceries, came back home a cleaned a little, watched some TV and called it a night. I should have painted my skull for 31 Skulls, caught up on my Inktober drawings or took photos of my framed drawings, but I didn't do any of that shit.
Today I organized, and put away, the tubs of gear used Friday night for my vendor booth. I also counted my t-shirts, updated the website inventory, and figured out how many I sold in each size & style. Besides counting & cleaning up, I started preparing for an upcoming exhibit I'll be announcing very soon. This is on top of the mural I'm currently designing and the new job I recently started (both of which I haven't made public yet). One thing that has been announced is that I'm DJing & MCing Local Color's Estate Sale on Sunday, September 26th.
I spent the day checking off things from my to-do list. I updated & organized documents, checked all my emails, synced my calendars, and all sorts of shit I'd been putting off for weeks. I did take a few breaks to step away from the computer and did a little drawing & coloring with my old Prismacolor markers.
I went to bed real late after the Street Mrkt event on Friday. Only got a few hours of sleep. Didn't drink any coffee. Was really tired from working and hiking so I stayed in bed and watched tv, and soon after I was out. Zzzz... I don't know how long I slept for but it had been 4 hours since my first missed call. I didn't get shit done today! I still have all the gear from Friday to organize & put away, and I need to count all my t-shirts and update my inventory online. I guess it'll have to wait till Sunday.
Nothing artsy fartsy for Saturday. I spent most of the day filling sandbags and tying them to a canopy to weigh it down. Then I vacuumed the inside of my car and cleaned the windows before giving it two washes. After that it was time to shave, shower and ready to go downtown to watch the bands The Wet Bandits and Barely Funktional play at the Caravan bar. A great way to end a busy day.
I unpacked from my weekend trip. Washed the dishes that have been sitting in the sink all week. Bought a couple new tires for my car and scheduled an installation appointment. Read a bunch of notes and documents to get up to date on a new project at work. Hopped on a Zoom meeting to brainstorm ideas for that project then did an evening site visit to take photos and make notes. Sent out the last invoice for custom t-shirt orders. I also made a short list of things to do tomorrow so I don't forget.
Not much to report on today. Just a few things. I counted my t-shirt inventory yesterday and updated the online store today. (I still need to count my USA map prints tho.) I bought some supplies on Amazon: A dispenser & cutter for a 24" roll of glassine paper (used to wrap prints before shipping,) boxes for shipping prints and t-shirts together, an archival box for storing my prints, and a couple sound-active party lights for my vendor booth when I do nighttime events (I can also use them when I DJ.) I also started looking at blank t-shirt prices for my Shirt 1.0 reprints as it's time to get that ball rolling.
I got the urge to do some spring cleaning and started by taking all my random sketches and drawings that I’ve been hoarding and made a pile. The plan is make something from them and/or get rid of them. Same thing with my sticker hoard. I’ve already sorted them by color, kinda. I kept a separate pile of stickers by local artists, bands, businesses & organizations. I wanna stick those somewhere cool :)
Nothing exciting to write about today. I just did laundry, answer emails, and a few other to-do’s. I drew and colored this random character a few minutes ago just to say I did something artsy fartsy
I spent today unpacking my luggage, shopping for groceries, and doing laundry. I’m slowly adjusting back to normal life. On the bright side, I received my negative COVID test result, and the bidet I bought online was delivered. Cheers to no cooties and a clean butthole! I spent all day cleaning and at night drew myself dancing with a broom, like Turbo in the movie Breakin’. About a month ago I set a goal to hike every open trail at Alum Rock Park before the end of the year. Today I thought I was going to finish but then realized I missed a couple short trails that both cross Penitencia Creek. (circled on the map below) There’s water running down the creek so I’m not going to cross it. Instead I’m going to walk both sets trails from each side of the creek and be done with it. Next I’ll finish hiking the Boccardo Loop Trail, part of the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority, which I hiked for the first time today and absolutely loved.
Besides watching some YouTube videos on how to light an artist workspace I got nothing artsy fartsy or businessy to report today. I did check off a few things from my To-Do list which was nice.
Today I replaced the old front door knob and deadbolt at home then went to Home Depot to make key copies. Then I went to Costco and bought a new car cover canopy for my dad to replace his old one. When I got home I cleaned the shower head and fixed the shutoff valve that was seized shut. Later I then got to work vectorizing some designs in Adobe Illustrator for a project I'm working on. It was a very productive day. Up next is patching & painting holes in the drywall and helping my dad assemble the canopy after taking part the old one.
I cleaned the fuck outta my room today. Dusted, vacuumed, wiped, decluttered, & consolidated a bunch of shit. That is all.
I didn't anything artsy today. I'm still tired from the event I DJ'd on Saturday. I just did laundry and went out to buy groceries & supplies. Tomorrow I'll try and fix all the little fuck ups I made while inking my recent drawings: Brains/Guts, Hearts & Stars, and Eyes & Mouths. I got my bottle of Pro White ready to go. I hope it matches the paper. How shitty is the name? Especially right now. I love the red P logo tho! Simple, clean & chonky
Just went thru emails, updated my calendar, made a couple phone calls, worked out at home, walked for a few miles, and rented Jojo Rabbit. Tomorrow I go back to work on this sumumabitch.
Today I went thru tubs full of old acrylic craft paints and spray paint to see which ones are still good and throw away the bad ones. If the acrylics were clumpy/boogery or almost empty I threw the paint at a wooden panel and canvas. I then used the wet canvases to test the spray paint. In the end I scraped off a bunch of paint from the center of the canvas and scribed an X into the wood panel. Both were looking really nasty but kinda cool. I might let them dry and keep them as-is or I'll use them to test my bucket paints next.
