Dang! I never thought I’d do 1,000 of anything. One thousand nights of writing in bed every night. There were a handful of dummy posts, when I just posted a meme or animated gif when I missed a day. A majority of posts are just filler, nothing important, just writing because I had to. The most important posts were the ones where I posted pictures of drawings, or what I worked on that day, or upcoming events. Now that I’ve reached a thousand I might not continue this challenge of posting a new blog post everyday. We’ll see. And to whoever reads this shit… Cheers!
One of my jobs at Local Color is to compile and send out their two email newsletters. One is the A.R.C.H. (Artists Reaching Creative Heights) Network Newsletter. It's a weekly listing of job opportunities, grants & paid gigs for artists. The other is the Monthly Newsletter with updates about the organization. Today I worked on both and sent them out to subscribers.
If you'd like to read the two latest newsletters: If you'd like to subscribe: My new job has me in charge of sending out it's two newsletters. The small one goes out about once a week to less than 100 people and the big one, the monthly newsletter, goes out to 1000+ subscribers. I've already sent out a few of the smaller one but the big one, the monthly, will be my first. And because there hasn't been a monthly newsletter published since April, this next one is gonna be chunky! The deadline to get everything submitted is at 5:00 PM tomorrow, so today I worked on getting everything formatted in preparation. I'm a little nervous but I really can't wait to get it over with and get started on next one.
365 posts! Most of them are shit but the daily exercise has helped me with my writing and it's encouraged me to continually work on other projects. The other benefit is if Instagram ever turns off the lights, or people move to other social media platforms, I'll still have all my content available here.
I was asked to submit an image and a 30 word description for my upcoming art show at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library for a newsletter going out to San Jose State students, faculty & staff. I hate writing about myself so I started with the image. It began as a pencil & paper sketch then brought in a photo of the library into Adobe Illustrator and started playing around. It's not perfect but I'm liking where it's going. I might make a few tweaks before submitting it and probably do more by show time. Now to go write a description...
